About us

The Port of Sines is a strategic hub for Portugal and Europe, playing a key role in global logistics, energy transition, and port modernization.

Driving Digital Transformation

As a deep‑water, multipurpose, future‑oriented port, Sines positions itself as a logistical, industrial and energy hub, committed to sustainability, operational efficiency and digital transformation.

To accelerate this transformation, the Ports of Sines and the Algarve Authority (APS) lead the NEXUS Agenda. This ambitious programme, part of the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), is designed to foster technological innovation and sustainable growth within the port and logistics ecosystem.

One of the main outcomes of this agenda is OpenSyllo ‑ a platform designed to share data, improve interoperability, and support collaboration.

The platform provides tools for publishing and subscribing to accessible and reusable datasets and digital services, supporting the development of innovative solutions, data‑driven decision‑making, and a smarter, more connected and intelligent port and logistics network.

OpenSyllo gives ports, companies, and developers the tools they need to turn data into smarter decisions and innovative solutions.

Our Mission: Empowering the Global Supply Chain

OpenSyllo gives ports, companies, and developers the tools they need to turn data into smarter decisions and innovative solutions. We operate across four fundamental pillars:

Visibility and predictability

Solving logistics challenges through industry-wide collaboration.

Innovation through data reuse

Enabling companies, researchers and developers to build high-impact digital products.

Economic and social value creation

Supporting decision-making with reliable, up-to-date and relevant information.

Interoperability and standardisation

Aligning with national and European best practices in the field of open data.

What means Open Data in the scope of OpenSyllo?

Open data is structured, reusable information that can be shared and reused according to its license and legal requirements. This model promotes transparency and innovation across the logistics chain, while respecting personal data protection and confidentiality.

Each dataset is governed by a license set by its ownerwhich defines how it can be used, shared, and redistributed.
Not all data is free. Each dataset clearly indicates whether access is free or a subscription fee applies.
Promotes transparency, collaboration, and data-driven innovationacross the port and logistics ecosystem.

On OpenSyllo, you can find, among others...

  • Port and logistics data: statistics, operational metrics, and performance indicators
  • Environmental, energy, and sustainability data
  • Metadata and technical documentation
  • Open, structured, and regularly updated datasets ensuring their reliability and usefulness.
The platform also hosts digital tools and services from participating companies, generating value for all stakeholders in the port and logistics network.

Commitment to Quality and Transparency

We are dedicated to the continuous improvement of our datasets. By upholding strict ethical standards and ensuring full legal compliance, we provide a secure environment for the community to interact, innovate, and grow.
